What’s Needed:
Outstanding undergraduate students considering the SURP program must meet the following criteria:

Brookhaven National Laboratory Summer Undergraduate Laboratory Internship (SULI)

Brooklyn (SUNY) Downstate Medical Center Summer Research Program
Location: Brooklyn, NY

What’s Needed:
The Downstate Summer Research Program is offered to full-time students enrolled in appropriate programs at their home institutions.
Housing/ Living/ Compensation:
Admission is competitive; only students in good academic standing will be considered.
Stipend: $3,000 will be provided to accepted applicants who are both competitive and accepted by funded faculty sponsors.
Brooklyn College

Enrolled as a full- or part-time student at a public college or university in the New York metropolitan area (including SUNY programs and institutions in New Jersey), leading to a baccalaureate or associate degree.
Completed the following courses: Introductory Psychology, Biological Psychology, Neuropsychology, Neurobiology, or Physiological Psychology; and Experimental Psychology or Research Methods (or an equivalent) (Note: We do not expect applicants who are currently enrolled in a community college to meet all of the course requirements above. However, Introductory Psychology should be completed.); have at least sophomore standing (i.e., completed 24 college credits).
GPA of 3.30 or higher
At least one semester of undergraduate school remaining before graduation after the current semester (eligible applicants should not be a graduating senior).
Able to arrange a class schedule so that only a maximum of two courses from his or her home institution are taken concurrently with the REU program. (Special exceptions can be made under extraordinary circumstances. Contact us if this is a concern.)

Stipend of $3,100 to support their hours of lab research and to cover travel, project materials, general academic supplies, and books. The stipend is not intended to cover housing.
City of New York Department of Health & Mental Hygiene Health Research Training Program (HRTP)

What’s Needed:
Applicants must be enrolled as a matriculated undergraduate, graduate or professional student in a degree program at an accredited college or university in the U.S.
Recent graduates are ineligible.
Applicants must be in good academic standing (GPA above 3.0).
Residency in NYC is required for the fall and winter/spring sessions. There are no residency restrictions for the summer session.
Watson School of Biological Sciences Undergraduate Research
Location: Cold Spring Harbor, NY
Area of Study: Biomedical Science

What’s Needed:
Students of any nationality are eligible for the program.
Students should have a strong academic background in a science. Although the Program emphasizes the biological sciences, students with engineering, chemistry, computer science, math, or physics backgrounds are also encouraged to apply.
Students must be returning to an undergraduate degree program following their URP summer research experience; current sophomores and juniors, or the equivalent, are eligible. Only in exceptional cases will first-year undergraduate students, with prior independent research experience, be considered.
Previous laboratory research experience will help your application but is not required.
If your academic semester conflicts with the dates of the URP program, you are still eligible to apply. If you are accepted into the Program, we will discuss how your academic schedule can be accommodated.
