Lauren's SURE Experience in the Smyth Lab

My research experience this summer has taught me so much in such a short period of time. Prior this summer, I did not have any experience working in a lab, much less planning out a research project of my own. While I struggled with learning basic lab protocol and procedure in the beginning, I did feel more comfortable working with microorganisms and taking initiative over time. Some of my favorite memories from this internship over the summer came from collecting soil samples around the school and patching bacteria onto plates.
